Fast food of music

Since the launch of the Apple iPod there has been an undoubtable revolutionary effect on our daily culture and the entire entertainment market. Even without knowing financial statistics or number of units sold, the effect can been seen in our everyday lives as it is literally impossible to be out in public for a day and not see someone with an IPOD related product. But now what?? It's been a few years since the introduction of the the iPod, and then the Nano and then the shuffle that is is kind of becoming "old". Although it is still a widely popular and successful product, can it still be considered fresh and new?? Or are we already looking to the next great innovation?? Apple seems to be.
In the article, "iPod Will be the new CD", Kahney touches on the upcoming "album iPods". These cheap pre-loaded iPods cut out the time, money and energy consuming tasks of downloading music. North-America is notourious for our "instantaneous" lifestyle....we want it here and now. I can easily see these "album iPods" becoming the fast-food of music. Why waste our precious time downloading when we can just pick it up?? It will make the iPod nation even more accessible to soceity, as you will no longer need hundreds of dollars to be welcomed into the white earphone club.
How will Apple be addressing the disposal issue that will definetely start to become a problem? If you can buy a new "album iPod" every then where will last week's device go? Instead of selling CD racks, will IKEA start to sell iPod racks?? Will these be the new physical music collection the way records and cds were before them??
It seems to me that although the Apple invasion into our culture had been to large extent already, the iPod seems to be only the tip of the iceberg.
